First week of school activities!

Looking back on our first few weeks, the students sure had a lot of fun! We practiced working together as a new team to see what we could accomplish. We also got to know each other, doing things like our mill around activity, where students had to find a classmate who had run a 10k, had a pet rat, or didn't own a cell phone, for example.

Here are students trying to organize themselves by birthday, without talking:

Students also had a great time playing 4 way capture the flag with all of the seventh grade home rooms:

We also had students think about what Grit means, and decide on a class definition. We shared the dictionary definition, and then tried to think about words we wanted to use to describe ourselves as a team. What traits do GRIT members display? Who are we as a team? Students transferred these ideas to GRIT posters:
The lights were out in an attempt to keep the room cooler! Here are some finished posters:

Go team GRIT!!
